46: Dave here with a progress update on Chimera 0.2. I've received
1.22 hyatt 47: lots of emails asking when Chimera 0.2 is going to be released. The answer
1.21 hyatt 48: is "When it's ready." :)
49:

50: We are holding Chimera 0.2 for Quartz rendering and plugins.
51: After all, a browser just isn't a browser until
52: you can view the Star Wars Episode II Trailer in all its glory inside

56: We are also working on crashers and stability fixes, as well as adding

58:

60: We are currently working on version 0.2 of Chimera. It should be
61: coming your way fairly soon.
62:

63: I received feedback from loyal Omniweb users requesting that I produce
64: numbers using the latest Sneakypeeks rather than 4.1b1. I was told that
65: the latest SP was substantially faster. That is absolutely true. Check
66: out Omniweb's improved numbers in the page load tests
67: here.
68:

1.20 hyatt 69: I also received feedback from iCab users asking me to run
70: iCab through the page load tests. I should clarify why iCab was
71: left out of the tests. The problem with iCab is that it does not wait
72: until images on a page have loaded before it claims that the page is
73: fully loaded. This means that the numbers that it scores on the test
74: are inaccurate, because they don't include the time for loading images.
75: This is in direct violation of the specified behavior for load handlers,
76: so iCab was disqualified from all tests.
77:

80: It contains support for security (SSL, HTTPS, etc.) as well as
81: support for alerts and user/password prompts, and some more crash
1.18 hyatt 82: fixes. This build is also 5% faster than 0.1.2. :)

1.15 hyatt 87: For the curious, I have posted the results of a browser showdown
88: between the major OS X browsers. The clear speed winner? Chimera, of
89: course! Check out the details here!.
1.17 hyatt 90: Of course all we do is speed right now, so until we're a full-featured
91: browser, take this with a grain of salt. :)

98: This build of Chimera contains the following improvements over 0.11:
99:

100:
Scroll wheel support
101:
Support for key events (so you can type/scroll/submit forms etc.)
102:
Support for hover feedback and cursor feedback
103:
Many crash fixes
104:
Improved scrolling speed (yes, ma, we blit now)
105:

106:

107: Quartz rendering is getting closer to being a reality, but it's not quite
108: there yet. Maybe for 0.2. :)

146: delivering a best-of-breed browser on the OS X platform. Chimera
