14:
Installation

15:
Please note that Annozilla v0.3 requires a Mozilla build
16: of 0.9 or better.

18:

19:
Firstly install the package, now at version 0.3.
20:
Next you will have to restart your browser.
21:
If this is the first time you have installed Annozilla, go to this URL:
22:
chrome://annozilla/content/addpanel.xul

23: This will add Annozilla to your sidebar panel.
24:
Finally go to the preferences window (Edit -> Preferences -> Annozilla) and set the server, user name and password. Please note:
25:

26:
You will need to have an account with an annotation server.
27: To try the W3C test server, get an account at .
28:
NB when you request the body of an annotation, you will be asked for your user name and password again, this is because the body of the annotation is retrieved by a different mechanism. You can use Password Manager to remember the values here though.
29:
If you are using the W3C test server, then you can probably find some annotations attached to the Annotea page.
30:

31:
You can also configure:
32:

33:
whether the annotations, when you select them, appear in an area in the sidebar, or in a new browser window
34:
whether to (a) try to determine the text that the annotation applies to, and (b) insert an icon in the main browser window to indicate the annotation.
35:
whether to load annotation bodies in an area of the sidebar, or in a new window
36:

37:
For languages, the options are these:
38:

39:
You can specify "only view annotations in my preferred language". This only
40: affects annotations which have a language specified.
41:
You can decide whether or not to view annotations without any language information specified. (At the moment only Annozilla specifies the language of annotations).
42:

43:

46:
Setting your preferences manually

47:
If you can't use the preferences window because your Mozilla build is
48: incompatible with your Annozilla build, you can set your preferences manually
49: if you know how to find your prefs.js file. Just edit the file (while
50: Mozilla is shut down) and add the following lines:

51:

52: user_pref("annozilla.annotationAuthor", "[your full name]");
53: user_pref("annozilla.annotationAutoLoad", false);
54: user_pref("annozilla.annotationInsertIcons", false);
55: user_pref("annozilla.annotationLoadInNewWindow", true);
56: user_pref("annozilla.annotationPassword", "[your password]");
57: user_pref("annozilla.annotationServer", "[annotation server]");
58: user_pref("annozilla.annotationUser", "[your user account]");
59:
